love notes

In celebration of finally having my portfolio fully uploaded—and being settled in my new apt., and surviving creating my portfolio, and getting into the BFA, and as a thank you to lovely friends and blog readers who are so supportiveI'm doing my first giveaway! If you want a chance to win this set of 8 cards, leave a comment on this post saying which card is your favorite and I'll randomly choose a winner on Saturday, Sep. 13. (giveaway is now over.) Spread the word! (this giveaway is for the cards only, envelope and box shown in pictures will not be included)

There it is. The last, but definitely not least, of my portfolio pieces. I made the box, designed the cards, and customized the envelopes myself. I think as soon as I finish school I will dedicate my life to making cards, it was my absolute favorite project this summer. If you like them too, then leave a comment to win the set!

made sweet boutique

After I created this blog, I had to create a branding identity for my portfolio. It could be for either an existing company or an imaginary one. So, I chose my own company (or what will someday be an actual company)... Made Sweet Boutique. I thoroughly enjoyed creating a branding for it, and am excited to finally be sharing it with you. (remember you can click the picture for a closer look)

First off, cute bags to put your purchases in with the clothing wrapped in tissue paper, and a Made Sweet sticker to close it up.

These are the tags that would hang on the clothes, and the price tag.

And these are the backs of the tags:

Magnets with the Made Sweet branding:

And last but not least, every boutique needs to sell pretty earrings right? So I made this packaging for a pair of them.

So there you have it, the Made Sweet branding. All completely designed, printed, and cut out by yours truly. I've been trying to post this for weeks, but simply haven't had the time—what with moving and starting school. I have only one more thing to post from my portfolio and then we can move on. Hooray! I've been working on and staring at these projects way too much this summer.

You may have seen magnets like the ones I posted here, they're a popular do it yourself project. I might post a tutorial on how to make them, because they are so inexpensive, cute, and easy to make! They can be great presents.

king george

One of the major projects that I turned in for my portfolio was a CD. We got to choose any artist, and since I love my country music, I chose an all time favorite—George Strait. I made a box set of his 56 number one hits. Yeah, that's right, 56. More number one hits than any other recording artist in any genre.

The project was huge: First I designed and handmade a box, (covered it in beautiful suede, and had everything laser printed on)

then designed and printed the four CD's,

and finally, did a twelve page booklet. (Sorry, I only have a picture of the front side.)

This project was so fun and so stressful! I was happy to have it over with.

surf fest

I love surfing. So when I got the chance to design a poster for any event that I wanted, I chose a women's surf fest in Capitola, California. I drew the background, and my professor thought it'd be sweet for the poster. So, I took his advice and had fun creating this.
